Cobras Finalist at Prestigious Jefferson Cup - Tuesday, March 18, 2008

The Cobras finally got good weather at a spring tournament and were able to compete in the Jefferson Cup Tournament, details on this tournament can be found below.  The Cobras lost to PWSI in the Final 3 - 2.  Thanks to the guest players that helped us out this weekend.

In order to get to the final the Cobras beat a scrappy YMS team beating them 4-3 in penalty kicks after the match ended as a 1 - 1 tie after overtime.  This is the same YMS team that beat the Cobras 4 - 1 at the Yardley Tournament.  The Cobras obviously have continued to improve.

 

Jefferson Cup Premier Soccer Tournament Fast Facts

  • The Tournament accepts over 600 teams from around North America.
  • In the past 4 Years, the Jefferson Cup turns down an average of over 500 teams per year.
  • The Jefferson Cup is currently ranked the #3 youth tournament for boys and #5 youth soccer tournament for girls in the United States.
  • Each year the tournament draws an average of over 150 State Cup Champions, over 50 Regional Champions and over 5 National Champions per year throughout the nine age groups.
  • Each year the tournament brings around 200 college coaches per weekend to scout the players participating.

U12 Cobras Finalist at Hempfield/Training Available - Monday, November 19, 2007

The Cobras made it to the Finals in the Hempfield Fall Classic and lost a hard fought match in the raw rainy cold weather, to the Medford Strikers 2 - 0. 

The Cobras also played in the Delco Soccer League compiling a 9 - 3 - 1 record and placing 3rd in the division.

The team will now focus their efforts on training indoors and getting ready to play in two premier tournaments, Jefferson Cup March 15-16 and Baltimore March Madness March 29 - 30.

The team will be indoor this winter participating in high intensity training with the team trainers.  The team is looking for players to participate in spring state cup and in a few of the spring tournaments.  If interested in training with this premier team please contact Chris Haring at (717) 439 3684.

The Cobras train with Celso Torres.  He works with the team both during the indoor season and during the outdoor season.  Celso also travels to tournaments and to games to watch the team play so that the training can be tailored to the team's performance.  More information can be found here in regard to his background.
